Software Development Engineer 
 
Speech is one of most exciting initiatives - it is driving the adoption of Natural User Interfaces (NUI). At the foundation of speech software and services is technology that enables those experiences, it is the “engine under the hood”, that powers our network services, clients and devices. Core Speech helps makes possible voice features in Enterprise, Client and Mobile products and particularly in the voice platform that powers Bing, XBOX and winphone scenarios.
 
Image a world in which you interact with your TV and entertainment system using your voice instead of a collection of remote controls. In addition, Instead of achieving your tasks by performing multiple searches on the internet followed by a number of user actions, you can accomplish the same tasks simply by interacting with a personal assistance running on your computer or mobile device through your own voice.
 
It is through the Core Speech technology that makes it possible for us to have such human-machine interactions. Not only does the system needs to do a good recognition of the user input and understand the user’s intentions, but it also needs to process, make decisions, response intelligently and act on behalf of the user of tasks that the user wants. Given the complex nature of human conversations, there will be a lot of challenges.
 
To bring these experiences to the world we need engineers who are ready to take on the challenge of a world ready speech platform. The Search Technology Center (STC) team is looking for a number of software development engineers in China - Beijing for this task.
 
We are looking for self-motivated drivers with a Speech Technology Development background that is characterized by contributions to commercial speech processing systems. It is an added bonus if applicants are familiar with one or more of the following areas:

● Natural language understanding and processing.
● Machine learning
● Conversation Understanding
● Human dialog modeling.
 
You will provide technical direction and take technical responsibility of several components inside the platform. You are also required to collaborate with different teams across the Bing organization in Beijing, Bellevue/Redmond and Mountain View.

Additional qualifications for this position include:

● MSc or PhD in CS/EE or equivalent experience.
● 5+ years of software development experience.
● Ability to program in scripting languages.
● Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
● Strong design, coding and debugging skill.
● Proficiency in C++ and C# programing languages.
